A vintage pickle jar, a Jewish deli staple, and a little bit of Lower East Side nostalgia.
This papercut was inspired by the pickle vendors and Jewish delis of New York's Lower East Side, where food was more than something to eat. Pickles became part of the landscape of Jewish immigrant life, carrying familiar tastes and traditions from one generation to the next.
I wanted to capture some of that history. The vintage-style jar turns an everyday food into a colorful piece of Jewish cultural art, celebrating the way food can carry memory, identity, and a sense of belonging.
The original was hand-cut from paper and layered with colorful tissue paper. This giclée print preserves the design in a crisp, colorful reproduction for your kitchen or dining room.
